Inventory
Reduction
Workshop

October
18, 19, 20,

Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Presented
by Barron’s-Auxier, Inc.

Hosted by the Birmingham, Alabama,
APICS
Chapter

As
professional business managers, each of us is aware of the importance of
managing our inventory levels .
The production problems that occur due to stock-outs, as well as
the
expenses related to having inventory on hand are just a few. Several
corporations still consider the expense of excess inventory as an
“insurance
premium” to prevent the problems associated with production “stock
outs”.
With the
current wide spread use of MRP, MRP2, ERP, and JIT systems, having
excess
inventory as an “insurance against stock outages” should no longer be
necessary. Especially since Inventory Carrying Costs (ICC) seem to be
increasing
every year. In 1996 a common ICC average was over 30% of the
purchase price of
the inventories. (It may be higher than that today.) “Wall Street” analysts
consider a “successful” corporation to have profits of 2% to 5% of its
sales. The Cost of Inventory (COI) often exceeds 80% for the sales price.
In
short math, the Inventory Carrying Cost would then make up 24% (30%
ICC X 80%
COI) of the sales. When an ICC of 24% is compared to the profit of 5%, it
is
easy to consider the potential additional profit a corporation could
experience,
IF the Inventory Carrying Costs were reduced.
We are
offering a workshop to assist your company to reduce Inventories, lower
your
Inventory Carrying Costs, and increase profits. The workshop has been
developed
from actual applications at our clients as well as new concepts. The basis
of
the workshop is in agreement with, but is NOT a repeat of APICS material.
This
is a REAL PRACTICAL APPLICATION of Inventory
Management for the
new millennium. The
workshop should
also qualify for 16 points (16 hours) towards the CPIM / CFPIM
Maintenance.

The
workshop is two days long. The attendees will be taken through a series
of
presentation and application of concepts, and experiential training that is
designed to build on each other through the conclusion and realization of
how
they will be able to positively impact their company.
