Segfault while building glibc 2.2

I would suspect the binutils.  With binutils 2.10, I could not even build
glibc-2.1.3 (although I had built it several times before).  The symptom was
the same, ld-linux.so.2 segfaulting.  I upgraded to the (then current)
binutils-2.10.0.33 from H.J. and everything is fine now.
