Problem with 'sh' while archiving libc_pic.a

As the others already have pointed out you've run into a kernel limitation.
If you're running IRIX you can issue the command ``systune ncargs 131072''
as root to raise the limit.  No idea if other SysV Unices also allow
tuning of this limit or what mechanism they use to do so.
