2.2 from cvs installation (fwd)

  The last step of installation fails with the latest cvs. When ldconfig
is run it links ld.so.1 (yes "1") to ld-2.2.so and breaks the link to
ld-linux.so.2 (I guess - I can't tell since about the only thing that
works at this point is ln which is static. I issue the command "ln -sf
ld-2.2.so ln-linux.so.2" and all is well again). This breaks the
installation and breaks the system whenever ldconfig is run. What I have
done for the mean time is made ld-linux.so.2 a hard link to ld-2.2.so.
This prevents the problem, but I do not understand why ldconfig is doing
this in the first place.
