Possible pthreads problem in glibc-2.0.7 (from RedHat rpm glibc-2.0.7-19)

Hello all,
I already wrote to Ulrich directly, but I suspect this
address is a better place.

I'm trying to write a threaded program under Linux and it does
not work as expected. It is based on the ACE class library
( http://www.cs.wustl.edu/~schmidt/ACE_wrappers/ACE-4.5.tar.gz ).
ACE is great and stable code that runs on a lot of different
platforms.
Unfortunately if something goes wrong, it is very hard to
track down. This is my current situation. I can not provide
a simple test case calling pure pthread functions, just a
test case based on ACE 
( http://www.darmstadt.gmd.de/~pommnitz/ACE_testcase.tar.gz ).

Doug Schmidt, the main author of ACE, thinks that this code
is basically OK (he found a minor nit, but this is not the cause
of the lock).

Now I'm asking for help and guidance in chasing down this bug.
Do you have tools that might help investigating what is going
on?
