Have you tried some flavor of CLOS (for example Tiny-CLOS)? I've used
Tiny-Clos
for a bit. It's reasonable (though I'm sure it's quite slow for large
systems), though
cumbersome without helper macros which I've been too lazy to write.

Also, there's a version of Tiny-CLOS named Swindle, which is written
especially for
MzScheme. At some point I considered trying to port it to Kawa (the code
there is
somewhat nonstandard).
