here my (hopefully) final revision for gsl_wavelet and a first draft for the
documentation. changes include brians suggestions plus a few mainly cosmetic
points.

brian could you help with the next three problems please.

- - i could not get the menus for texinfo processed properly.
- - "(CHAPTER VECTOR)", "(CHAPTER MATRIX)" should be references to the
  respective chapters in the documentation.
- - i could not get the accent in "St\'ephane Mallat" work.

and a comment on the next two is appreciated
- - should an example for 1D and 2D each (test_1D.c and test_2D shrunk to
  the absolute minimum) be given?
- - i have a script to create tilings of the phase plane written for
  gri (free graphing package) that could go to the "contrib" directory.
  is this helpful? if yes it should probably be mentioned in the 
documentation.
