vector/matrix/linear algebra

I am trying to use gsl v0.5 to implement some linear algebra
operations I need.  While much of the basic documentation seems
straightforward, I am having trouble decoding all the various BLAS
routines and figuring out how to accomplish simple things like
addition/subtraction/multiplication of vectors and matrices.

Is there a better source of documentation on such things than the
*.info files shipped with gsl (which pretty much lack any specific
information on this part of the library).
