Just as a heads-up: This issue still persists and while it can be fixed in some
cases by building the affected packages with large file support enabled [1],
there are still many packages which will just crash on qemu-user because of
this problem.

So, I think we need some sort of work-around in glibc to address this issue. I
understand this isn't a bug in glibc per se, but it's a change in glibc that
negatively affects an important usecase which is qemu-user emulation.
