My comment has nothing to do with whether there are multiple GOT entries for a
symbol but rather whether R_X86_64_GLOB_DAT is used for non-GOT relocations as
well, particularly data relocations where you have an address constant other
than the base address of a symbol. The corresponding relocation on i386 seems
to be used in this way...
