generate-core-file - ARM Targets

Greetings,

I am connecting gdb (7.8.1) running on an x86 Linux host to gdbserver
running on an ARM Linux target (armv5te). When I execute the
generate-core-file command I get a generic "Can't create a corefile"
message. This command is successful on a different ARM target (also
armv5te, but a different core).

I am trying to understand why 1 target can create the corefile but the
other cannot.  I am looking into the gdb source now but any
help/suggestions would be appreciated.
