Well, there is one big build issue, I am fighting with:
  --enable-system-readline
seems pretty much broken and unusable.

Not that this would be something new, but with readline having seen a 
major update (readline-6.x) all "dirty" spots, where gdb accesses 
readline-5.x's internals pop up again.
