So you all know,

I intend to abolish my own "interim maintainer" role, effective from the moment GDB's Steering Committee ratifies its rules (I believe that it is very close) .  Doing this ensures that GDB's Steering Committee is unquestionably in a position where it can take collective responsibility for both GDB's maintenance and its future direction.
