questions abou psim

Hi,
I use psim emulator integrated in to gdb. This
emulator have the possibility for supply some
simulators performace counters(ex. the number of clock
cycles execute to the CPU since the start of program).
Why only this emulator offer this possibility?
Are there other simulators(for other architectures)
that have this feature?
How much corrected are these performance information?
