Oh, well, one of the mysteries of C++ backwards compatibility.

I say that it's harmless to leave the little block of 'T' code in,
because it will never hurt anything.  Daniel J says that it's harmless
to take it out, because it will never actually be used.  I suspect that
we're both right and that either way will work.
