gdb 5.2.1 on Mandrake 7.2

I'm not on the list, please CC me directly on any replies.

I've installed the gdb 5.2.1 Mandrake RPM on Mandrake 7.2 as well as
compiled it from scratch, and am unable to perform thread operations
from within gdb.  5.0 works fine (but has other bugs with threaded
programs which forced me to upgrade).  

The machine is running kernel 2.2.19 and glibc 2.1.3.  Can anyone
confirm this problem?
