GDB configure problem

hi,
i am facing some problem while running configure script before building.

i got the following error message,

checking for tgetent in -lncurses... (cached) no
checking for tgetent in -lHcurses... no
checking for tgetent in -ltermlib... no
checking for tgetent in -ltermcap... (cached) no
checking for tgetent in -lcurses... (cached) no
checking for tgetent in -lterminfo... no
configure: error: Could not find a term library
Configure in /root/gdb-5.0/gdb failed, exiting.

since you had faced the same problem, could you please help me in solving
this proble.
i am working on intel platform, redhat linux -7.1, kernel 2.4.2. the ncurses
is already installed on my machine.
