testing gcc

Hello, i am working on a cross-compiler for ARM architecture
I modified file combine.c in GCC sources and maybe I introduced a bug
because I can't install
the compiler; i get the following message:

Please submit a full bug report.


My question is: can I use GDB to catch the bug, even if I can't compile
gcc?
