GDB 5.0 mi interface and linux

Hi there!
Thanks to (jingham@apple.com) i managed to make gdb with the mi interface for
both solaris and nt, but i am encountering problems for linux.

i issued the following sequence of commands to build gdb:

 ./configure  --enable-gdbmi=yes
make

but when i issued gdb -i mi to start gdb i got the following error:

>Interpreter `mi' unrecognized.


Does someone know if the mi interpreter is available for linux and if it is,
how to configure it?
