Sorry, you are right.

I think this is a very useful idea.  But as far as I understand, the
information managed by the code you posted needs to be consulted by
other GDB commands, right?  I don't see any code that does that yet.

I'm not saying that this somehow invalidates your code and
descriptions, I just want to be sure I'm not missing anything
important.
