I suppose the upside is that xterm is more likely to be standard
across hosts than something like "ansi"... kind of tragic but oh well.

OTOH I don't really know what the differences are between an
ANSI terminal and xterm.  Like, is that patch you referenced
sufficient?  Or are there more sequences we'd need to implement?
