Understood, now I went reading here:

I would assume this has been implemented in the linux kernel already, I might
be wrong however. The debugging stub might have sent less registers? I guess
the only way to find out is by instrumenting to see what it sends? The kernel
and userland were compiled by gcc 4.8, but I assume this wouldn't influence the
workings if it would be implemented correctly. I'm trying to understand where
to look to find if it sends indeed less registers and where I can add
instrumentation to find out. Thanks, Reinoud.
