 This function is used in hpread_start_psymtab() which is called from
 hpread_quick_traverse() which is called from hpread_build_psymtabs()
 which is non-static. I don't know why gcc complains about this. I can
 build this target ok with gcc-3.3.4 and gcc-4.1.0.
