A libtool update needs to be done in sync between the GCC, binutils-gdb
and src repositories, and as far as I know would still require reverting
certain libtool changes relating to sysroots that are incompatible with
the notion of sysroots used in those trees (libtool commit
3334f7ed5851ef1e96b052f2984c4acdbf39e20c), and of course need lots of
testing in different configurations; while a good idea, it's not a simple
matter of using a new libtool version.
