Hello,
I had initially hoped to release at the start of the year, but
I think that it was a little too optimistic...
We have currently 3 items on the blocking list:
* Fix zero registers core files w/gcc-4.7 [Jan, waiting for approval by H.J.]
http://sourceware.org/ml/binutils/2011-12/msg00298.html
* Minimal symbol causing multiple-location breakpoints + regression fix [Joel]
(waiting for possible feedback from Tom)
http://www.sourceware.org/ml/gdb-patches/2011-12/msg00773.html
http://www.sourceware.org/ml/gdb-patches/2011-12/msg00862.html
* Stand-alone Cell debugger broken by ambiguous-linespec patch [Ulrich]
http://www.sourceware.org/ml/gdb-patches/2012-01/msg00055.html
We have patches for all three of them, so it will hopefully not be
too long until the issues are resolved.
However, I think that the number of patches that are potentially
disrusptive on all platforms is sufficiently high that I am thinking
of making another pre-release, and then wait another couple of weeks
before releasing... I'm thinking in particular of the patches we wrote
on top of the ambiguous-linespec series. Mine in particular looked
simple enough, but turned out to be too naive and clearly negatively
impacted ppc64.
Thoughts?
