Ah, I see. That's a valid question. For me, if a contributor who
knows only GDB wanted to go hunt for bugs, I would look at the KFAIL
failures.  This is why I would say it's convenient to use KFAIL for
GDB bugs only.  But, in all honesty, it's never happened that I looked
at the KFAIL list for inspiration, in all honesty, it's never happened
that I looked at the KFAIL list for inspiration.  So it's really OK
with me either way.
