I've approved parts 1, 2, 7, and 8.  Parts 3-6 look reasonable too,
but I'm not as familiar with the files that these patches touch, and
so will leave it up to others to comment on these portions.  If
everyone's concerns with those portions have been addressed, you can
consider them approved too.
