How does one actually really configure multi arch

Hi,

I'm aware of the set architecure & set arch debug stuff in gdb.
But how do I
configure --target=s390-ibm-linux,i586-ibm-linux  or similar
this doesn't currently appear to work & it looks like nothing has been done
about this
from a configure point of view.

I can only guess that this isn't actually working or am I missing something
?
