Change stubs to handle '$' after packet start

   I checked the last snapshot, and it looks like one of my *-stub.c
   patches, the one that changed getpacket() to return a pointer to the
   first char of packet data, has not yet been applied.  That would
   explain the patch failures. 

Hmph, thought I was caught up already.  I'll work on the previous
patch first then - don't even remember seeing it...
