I don't see anything wrong with it as such. Subject to John's new process 
I would be happy to see this in as I strongly believe it will resolve the 
spurious interrupt problem with the viper, this patch being one of the big 
differences with the trunk that could explain it. I'd need to try it 
though to be sure.
