[ECOS] about HAL

hi, all
  I'm new to eCos and Redboot. HAL is abstract layer of platform, so that 
it provids HAL interface and exception handling is understandable, but I'm 
not clear the functions of hal/common. 
1. What's the use of ROM/RAM calling interface and who is its user? 
2. The APIs defined in dbg-threads-api.h should be implemented by kernel, 
why they are defined in HAL?
3. Why place hal_stub and generic-stub in HAL?
  I have these questions just due to my nescience, so I expect your help.
