[ECOS] ARM soft-float multilibs?

I've been trying to make gcc build soft float multilibs, by modifying 
t-arm-elf like that:

MULTILIB_OPTIONS += msoft-float
MULTILIB_DIRNAMES += softfpu

but I never get the multilibs, gcc doesn't seem to build them. All other 
multilib options I give are accepted though. What am I missing?
