[ECOS] dynamic HAL_PLATFORM_* values

Is there an example somewhere of how to dynamically define a value for
HAL_PLATFORM_EXTRAS and make sure the definitions get put in the right
header files so redboot can link?  I'm trying to print out some fpga
and chipset revision stuff at startup.
