[ECOS] Accessing RS232 port in Linux

Hii,
 i am using ecos-2.0 on Liunx8.0. 
 I tried to open com1 serial port(RS232) using
 cyg_io_lookup("/dev/ttyS0",handle) API provided by
ecos. But it is returnig -ve value.
 (abs value is 2 =  /* No such entity */)
 Can u please tell me how to read and write to RS232
port.
