[ECOS] Help lcs_support.c IPAQ

Hi,
could somebody explain me because is necessary this code line in lcd_init()
func.:

 fp = (struct lcd_frame
*)hal_virt_to_phys_address((cyg_uint32)lcd_frame_buffer);

because the conversion in necessary, i can't work only with virtual address?
