I believe that now is as good a time as ever.  Whatever changes
come because of the GCC 3.x stuff should be easy to get into
your platform/architecture, so if you're interested in updating
you might as well get started.

The actual beta "release" is being put together by the eCos
team that is still with eCosCentric.  I am not directly involved
in that effort, having moved on to other work (see signature), so 
I don't know the exact schedule.  Also, perhaps one of them can comment 
if I have misstated.
