[ECOS] mib2c problem

I am trying to generate C code for DS3 MIB for the eCos agent.
I have:
- Got the mib2c compiler
- done MIBS=ALL; export MIBS
- got the SNMP Perl module
- placed the DS3 mib definitions in /usr/local/share/snmp/mibs/

Then when I run mib2c as
perl mib2c transmisison.30 it gives me error:
Modification of a read-only value attempted at mib2c line 261, <GEN1> line
59.

I am using the mib2c.conf that was written for eCos.
Development environment: RedHat Linux 7.2
Perl: perl-5.6.1-26.72.3

The MIB definitions for DS3 are taken from RFC2496 (Object Defitions)

What am I doing wrong here?
