[ECOS] Tool building instructions for eCos

To be honest, yes, those pages are well out of date with respect to 
recommended versions, and it's one of the things on the list to actually 
go and try out the zillion different toolchains to check they build and run.

Using more recent versions should be fine, bearing in mind that any 
problems you have related to those are better directed at the appropriate 
lists ( e.g. <binutils@sources.redhat.com> etc.) than here.

The only thing I would advise you _not_ to do, is use binutils sources 
that come with your Linux distro. Those sources are well known for having 
Linux only hacks and fixes in them, i.e. fixes that break non-Linux 
targets. It's better to get the genuine binutils sources. The same may 
well be true of GCC: a vendor will have provided the sources solely for 
building *their* compiler, not a general purpose one.
