Simply because:
sourceware:~$ hostname
sourceware.org
sourceware:~$

It's no big deal - just software filling in the blanks in arbitrary but 
equivalent ways ( gthomas@sourceware.org == gthomas@sources.redhat.com 
which then goes to Gary's personal account ).
