[ECOS] On linker script

Hi,all!
   could you tell me the definition of macro KEEP in *.ld?
I failed to find it in source file and gnu manual.
by the way,
#define LMA_EQ_VMA
#define FORCE_OUTPUT . = .

 Is using LMA_EQ_VAM as a argument of macro SECTION_* legal? because statment "#define LMA_EQ_VMA" does not define its value!
#define FORCE_OUTPUT .=. means what?

  as a beginner of gnu tools,I am sorry to ask some very easy questions(maybe).
