Ah yes, thanks to that I've found the bit of code in question (
build_bootp_record in network_support.c contains:
for (i = 0; i < bp->bp_hlen; i++) {
bp->bp_chaddr[i] = 0xFF;
}
which explains it completely! I'll create a bugzilla bug for it. Thanks for
looking.
