[ECOS] AT91 EB40 timers

On the AT91-EB40 board, Timer-0 is used for the system clock.
I want to write an application that uses timer-1 and timer-2 .
Are these safe(free) to use?
I know that the following function makes use of timer-2:
void hal_delay_us(cyg_int32 usecs) [in at91_misc.c]
Is this actually used by any kernel functions? Am I likely
to undermine any core functionality by using timer-2?
