[ECOS] SIOCSIFADDR: Device not configured

I get the following errors with my WaveLAN ethernet driver when trying
to obtain an IP address.  Where should I start looking for the cause?

SIOCSIFADDR: Device not configured
BOOTP/DHCP failed on eth0

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
