Yes, you didn't specify -l   - RedBoot doesn't know how much data to
write.

Maybe you didn't run 'fi init' That would usually take care of things
and make the above line valid - **** but only do this if it's in the
instructions ****. I don't know if it may risk bricking the board.

Bottom line is, go over the instructions very carefully and make sure
you follow them to the letter!
