[ECOS] Installtion problem in eCos

Sir,
   I donot know the root of the problem in installation of eCos on my
computer. It has NTFS and it is virus free. When I try to configure  binutils,
I get the following:

   gcc -o... doesnt work..it asks me to set CC to a working compiler

echo $CC gives nothing  (it is blank)

when I use gcc myself, I can do it, which means cygwin installation should be
ok.

Please advise me what to do.
