An example 8x8 font can be found at
  ${ECOS_REPOSITORY}/hal/arm/sa11x0/ipaq/current/src/font.h

You might also look at the cooresponding LCD driver in that
directory.  It supports a fairly complete "glass tty" emulation
on an LCD panel.
