Good, except for this bit:

We need to use the current value of the 'lang' attribute for this.
For example:

<refentry lang="de">
  ...
</refentry>
<refentry lang="es">
  ...
</refentry>

So we need to look for the 'lang' attribute on the ancestor nodes.
