As anticipated, after further investigation, it is NOT a Cygwin-related issue, hence I withdraw my request with apologies for noise.

FWIW and benefit of future readers (or victims), let it be noted that the compiler is reacting to the architecture-related parameter '-mmodel=kernel', as it clearly states in its error message... Once adjusted, there is no issue left. ;)
