I think the problem is that ImageMagick.pc adds -lImageMagick:

$ pkg-config --libs ImageMagick
-lMagickCore-6.Q16 -ljbig -llcms2 -ltiff -lfreetype -lbz2 -lz -lpng15 -lm -lz 
-ljpeg -lgs -lpng15 -lautotrace -lpng -lz -lm -lMagickCore [...]
