Actually, you will need to

ln -s /usr/bin/gcc gcc-4.exe
ln -s /usr/bin/g++ g++-4.exe

or some build system checks using EXEEXT will produce quite unexpected 
results.  (I have personally never needed gcc4, i.e. without the hyphen).
